Your Invisalign® Dentist in Birmingham, AL

Invisalign® aligners are a discreet and effective orthodontic treatment option. They are worn comfortably over your teeth to adjust alignment and spacing continuously. These aligners are custom-made using models of your current teeth and the desired result. You will switch to new aligners every two weeks, with each set shifting your teeth slightly. This process continues until you achieve your final results, usually taking about 20-40 weeks but sometimes taking longer. You only remove the Invisalign® aligners for eating, drinking, and cleaning. Initially, they may feel very tight, but they will begin to loosen and feel more comfortable after a few days.

  • How does the Invisalign® process work?

To start, we will take photographs of your teeth and face, dental impressions of your teeth, and x-rays. These records are then sent to Invisalign® along with detailed instructions on how we want the final result to look. Invisalign® will use the impressions to create a 3D model of your teeth and collaborate with your dentist to ensure that the mold is precisely proportioned. Once finalized, the trays are made and sent to your dentist’s office. You will wear each set of trays for two weeks at a time for approximately 2 years or the duration determined by your dentist.

  • Invisalign® vs. braces - what's the difference?

Several differences exist between Invisalign® and braces; we’ve outlined some of the most significant ones here. Ultimately, the decision is up to you, but introducing Invisalign® to the market brought a more efficient and less painful way to straighten teeth.

    • Invisalign® uses clear, transparent aligners, while braces use wires and brackets.
    • The user can remove Invisalign® aligners anytime, while a professional can only remove braces.
    • Invisalign® allows users to eat whatever they like and maintain their oral care practices without changes, while braces restrict what users can safely eat and require special maintenance and care.
    • Invisalign® aligners do not pose any injury risks, while braces can lead to cuts and other injuries.
    • Invisalign® aligners are nearly impossible for others to notice, while braces are almost impossible to miss.
  • Who can use Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is suitable for most teenagers and adults who need mild to moderate orthodontic corrections. This includes individuals with crooked or misaligned teeth and noticeable spacing issues. Invisalign® can also help patients with minor bite problems, but it’s important to note that not all orthodontic issues can be addressed with Invisalign®. More extensive problems may require alternative treatments.

  • How much does Invisalign® in Birmingham cost?

According to the Invisalign® website, these treatment costs are similar to those of metal braces. Costs can vary, depending on:

    1. Insurance coverage: Most insurance plans cover Invisalign® the same way they cover metal braces. However, insurance will rarely cover Invisalign® for cosmetic reasons, and each case differs.
    2. Length/complexity of treatment: With Invisalign, you get new clear aligners every couple of weeks, so the cost varies depending on if your treatment requires more (or fewer) aligners.
